Frankford Real Estate
Frankford Real Estate
Frankford Ontario has to be one of my favourite towns on the Trent river system. It's about a ten minute drive north of Trenton and is officially part of Quinte West (along with Murray Township, Sydney Township and Trenton). Frankford was officially incorporated as a village in 1920, but before that was known by various other names including Manchester, Cold Creek and Scott's Mills.
Today Frankford is a busy town of about 2000 inhabitants and there's always something going on during the summer weekends. It's a great place to live and it's not far from C.F.B. Trenton, which is why it's a popular area for military personnel to call home. Just a quick jaunt down Glen Miller Road and you're there.
There are a few attractive subdivisions in and around Frankford, some are your typical subdivision with urban sized lots and some are more rural with country sized lots. Househunters are sure to find what they're looking for here.
Frankford is where Cold Creek runs into the Trent River, the original site of the grist mill that was built by the settler Abel Scott, and the downtown core of the town seems to have sprung up around the mill. There are a few restaurants (including my favourite pizzeria in the area, Dimitris Pizzeria), a drug store, an LCBO, and a hardware store and many more amenities.
Frankford is also home to the famous Lock 6 along the Trent Severn waterway, and is a favourite stop for many boaters who are making that journey from Trenton to Peterborough. There is a very picturesque park, imaginatively called the "Frankford Tourist Park" where camping spots are available and where there's a pavilion for when the weather's not cooperating. During the summer you'll often find me sitting on one of the benches along the river watching the water flow by.
Every June there's a huge fiddle festival in Frankford called The Fiddlers on the Trent Festival and it's become one of the biggest Fiddling festivals in North America. It's definitely one of the summer benchmarks in the Quinte area every year. I rarely miss it.
Anyhow, if you're interested in buying or selling a home in Frankford, or if you have any general questions about Quinte real estate in general, you can always pick up the phone and call me at the Trenton Century 21 office at 1 888 792 5499. I will be happy to hear from you.
