Bloomfield Real Estate

Bloomfield is close to the geographical centre of Prince Edward County. This interesting little town of about 700 odd souls is located at the intersection of highway 33 (from Trenton) and Highway 62 (from Belleville). Unless folks are familiar with the back roads of Prince Edward County, chances are they will have driven through Bloomfield on their way to Sandbanks Provincial Park.

Bloomfield, like the rest of the County, proudly displays its United Empire Loyalist roots, and you'll see a few Union Jacks scattered in with the Canadian flags. Bloomfield has done an excellent job preserving its history, and the businesses are mostly housed in 19th century buildings along main street.

One business in Bloomfield that I'm particularly fond of is Slickers County Ice Cream which is open spring through fall (I'm sure the demand for ice cream plummets in the winter months).  They have such a variety of natural home made ice cream that it's very hard to make a decision when I'm standing in front of the counter. They all look so delicious. Sometimes it gets pretty busy and there's a line that stretches outside the front door. The ice cream is that good.bloomfield ontario
Another great local business in Bloomfield is called Dead People's Stuff, an antique store located right on Main Street, chock full of interesting items. It's definitely worth a stop if you happen to be travelling through the area. There's a lot of history in Prince Edward County, and some of it has ended up in this charming store.

There is still a very active and vibrant farming community surrounding Bloomfield. This area was one of the first areas settled in Ontario, and this community stretches back to the very early days. It's a big reason why so many restaurants in the area serve fresh local produce and why Bloomfield is a very big stop on Prince Edward County's Taste Trail, and a huge reason why the Globe and Mail named Prince Edward County as the gastronomic capital of Ontario.bloomfield ontario

Some of the back roads around Bloomfield make for excellent Sunday driving when the weather is nice. If you happen to own a motorcycle, I can vouch that you can spend the whole day riding around here taking in the sights, sounds and smells. The roads are never busy, so it does make for some excellent worry-free riding.
Bloomfield is another community that makes Prince Edward county such a great place to live, work and play. hope you can come for a visit one day. Better yet, call me and we'll look for a house or a cottage in the area. I know a few that are available.
